The Honorary Chair for PD Week 2006 is the Comptroller General for Canada! Given his mandate and the numerous initiatives underway in his office Mr. Charles-Antoine St-Jean has accepted the honor of Honorary Chair and he will also be providing an address on the Accountablility Act. New Stream this year - “International Perspectives in Government”. This new Stream provides an exclusive opportunity to discover what is happening in the area finance in various countries around the world. There any many different successes and best practices everywhere and much to learn from each other.


For this year, we are featuring the United States of America. Our featured speakers are senior appointees who have seen and been a part of the evolution of the financial world. To complement the International Perspective in Government stream, we will also feature senior staff from the Canadian International Development Agency and learn about Canada’s role abroad.

FMI PD Week Gala – The event will take place on Friday evening, December 1st, starting a 6pm with cocktails, ending at 1am. Sugarphyx (www.sugarphyx.com) will provide live entertainment, along with a DJ. In addition, a jazz trio will provide a more peaceful environment for conversation and networking. (16 October 2006)


Travel

WestJet has agreed to provide 10% discounts off their regular airfares (excluding seat sales) to delegates and their dependents traveling to PD Week 2006.  The discounts are available for flights taken to and from Ottawa between November 25 to December 3, 2006 inclusive. Travelers must quote "FMI Conference QC # 3784” to receive the discounted airfare.

The discount is also available for Government of Canada Public Service Employees booking through Travel Access Voyage. Simply mention the conference account number, QC#3784, to the travel agent when booking.
