Meetings and Business Aptitude
Regardless of the job description most managers spend most of their time managing people. This workshop examines the need for meetings and how to tailor the meeting to fit the need. The ten biggest complaints of meeting participants will be examined for validity and solutions offered. We will meet the people you work with and try to understand their motives. We will also examine techniques designed to bring clarity to communication. (Session continues in pm)

Michelle Causton, FCGA
Since earning her CGA designation in 1986, Michelle has been progressively involved in the Association at the chapter, provincial, and national levels. Her involvement started with the local Chapter (1987) and progressed through election to Ontario’s Board of Governors (1994) and election to the Executive Committee (1996). Michelle was the 2000 - 2001 president of CGA Ontario.
Michelle served on the national board from 1997 to 2003 and sat as a member of the executive committee in 2002/2003.
In recognition of her service, Michelle received the Chapter Distinguished Service Award (1993), the Ontario Distinguished Service Award (1997) and was granted CGA-Canada’s Fellowship Award (1999).
After working in public accounting for over 25 years, Michelle accepted a position of Professor of Accounting in the business department at Canadore College in 1999. Her course focus is management accounting and taxation. She is the recipient of Canadore’s Award of Excellence for teaching in 2001.

This three-part article was published on the Certified General Accountant’s professional development network - PD Net (an innovative, Web-based resource that provides a broad range of professional development information designed to keep members current on issues and developments within the accounting profession).
frequent spokesperson on ethics and leadership to audiences of professional accountants, Michelle delivered an address in Ottawa at the 12 Annual Conference of the CGA Accounting Research Centre and to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Caribbean.
