Join our team of Volunteers at the Financial Management Institute of Canada

Prelude

The Financial Management Institute of Canada (fmi*igf) is a national volunteer organization that operates as a network of chapters in all provinces across Canada. Approximately 400 volunteers combine their efforts to define and deliver the professional development program to our 2800 members annually. As part of our team our volunteers, while also benefitting from our program, you would contribute to ensuring that fmi*igf continues to deliver current and relevant best practices for its members, by its members.

Invitation to Volunteer

Whether a public sector accountant, auditor, administrative assistant or consultant we would welcome your volunteer contribution with our National Office program out of Ottawa-Gatineau, or any of our 14 chapter locations across Canada.
3.
Volunteer Opportunities at fmi*igf
  • Be a lead or member of a national project team with a variety of subject.
  • Be a web blog manager.
  • Contribute to determining program and presenters of our national webinar series.
  • Be a PD Week program organizing committee member with focus on program content & speaker selection; logistics, food & beverage management, entertainment & social or marketing & communication.
  • PD Week daily volunteers such as registration, information or marketing booth officer.
  • Be a Public Sector management Workshop (PSMW) organizing committee member with focus on program content & speaker selection; logistics, food & beverage management, entertainment & social or marketing & communication. Note that the PSMW changes locations annually.
  • PSMW daily volunteers such as registration, information or marketing booth officer.
  • Be a member of a chapter program event team.
  • Promote fmi*igf events and membership benefits to fellow co-workers in your office.
  • Write fmi*igf Journal articles for one of three issues per year.
  • Proofread fmi*igf Journal articles prior to printing.
  • Be a webinar or conference presenter.
  • Express interest in Chapter Boards of Directors positions.
  • Express interest in National Board of Director positions.
  • National event administrative assistance with registration, preparing delegate packages, correspondence, sponsorship relationship management.

  • Name, mailing address, email address and contact phone number with area code.
  • Position and employer; number of years with that employer.
  • Linguistic ability in French and/or English (advanced, functional, minimal).
  • Location of willingness to volunteer: national (Ottawa-Gatineau) or specific chapter location.
