Public sector organizations are facing serious resource challenges over the coming years.  As their private sector counterparts have been doing for decades, public organizations all around the world are looking for ways to reduce the cost of their operations while maintaining the quality of services and the need to withstand public scrutiny of all that they do.

Join Bruce Manion FCMA, a senior federal finance executive and former CFO in two federal departments as well as someone who has managed and been a strong proponent for shared services/systems within the federal government.  Bruce will discuss what shared systems and services are all about, the recent past for public sector initiatives in this area, the requirements and pitfalls for successful implementation and operation of shared service/system delivery and some of what looms ahead for the public sector in this exciting and somewhat daunting endeavor.

About the Speaker:
Up until recently, Bruce was on assignment as a faculty member with the Canada School of the Public Service. Prior to that, Bruce was the CFO at both HRSDC and Canadian Heritage. In over 28 years since joining the federal public service through the FORD/IARD Program of the OCG, he has held many different positions in audit, administration and financial management in numerous other federal organizations such as DND, OSFI, NRCAN and PWGSC.

Throughout his career, Bruce has maintained a strong interest in modernizing management practices and the strengthening of functional communities.

Bruce is married and has two children. When he is not working, he is an avid tool guy and home renovation maniac. In past lives, he has been a professional musician, actor, stand-up comic and gravedigger. He is certainly not your average accountant.
