Lean is the name used to describe the Toyota Production System. Originally used to help improve the efficiency and productivity of high volume manufacturing, lean is now being applied in service industries and low volume high mix environments. Lean can be applied anywhere you have processes; some examples from the office where it has been applied are payroll, request for approvals, request for payments, payment and quoting. When applied correctly the Lean process will transform companies so that the workers, the company and the customer will all benefit. The proper application of Lean principles and tools will return double digit percent improvements in key metrics such as productivity, inventory turns, lead times and the bottom line. The application of Lean has many opportunities for the financial community, from the impact on the bottom line to the application of Lean in their own business processes

This workshop will be of interest to financial managers and others at other levels of government who wish to learn about  “Lean”
